Peter dreams of being a writer. He actually sits down and begins a novel that takes him on a romantic thriller ride he will never forget. His life is the stuff of novels, he believes, when he begins an adventure in France. First of all, he meets the beautiful Elodie, a French tour guide, and they begin a relationship that becomes a romance and real, intimate, enduring love. The only trouble is that Deg wants to take everything from Peter, even Elodie, just like Deg took Peter's first wife. The tale that unfolds is one of deceit, theft of, not only Peter's books, but everything, even Elodie, the woman he intends to spend the rest of his life with, or so he comes to believe until Deg puts Peter in a homeless shelter in Boston, broken, dejected, and so impoverished it doesn't look like Peter will ever escape until one night Peter learns the love of his life has always been faithful and she kept the key to bringing down Deg.
